What do you need as crew.

Depends on distance of the race.

But anytime you need:

a FFV license (get it at the organising yachtclub, includes liability insurance)
CM membership (one race only or full) the CM will be present at the race. Subscribe there.
Doctors attest (If your GP does not want to d it without giving you a full test, visit one in France,  but you need to arrange that)

And for longer races:
a TPS or similair
an Isaf safety course

Newbie here and hoping someone can fill me in on the acronyms, as I've been searching online and coming up dry - only more acronyms...

Can someone please explain or provide the full names for FFV License, CM membership and TPS? My club doesn't know what the N.A. equivalent of an FFV license. Likewise for the other terms.

Many thanks.

Hello!

I'm new to the forum, I've been interested in the class for a long time and I'm just now learning the basics of it.

I'm a professional yacht captain with spanish qualifications, and I have survival courses and medical tests by the spanish merchant navy. Would those be valid for a mini race or do I need to take the ISAF survival course?

Regards!

KNew a guy that had Uk merchant papers etc, still had to do ISAF as it missed some parts.
ISAF has on the web exactly what the contents of the course are.
You could check it for yourself.
