We were accepted as a demonstration class. Not sure of all the others, but I am going on my Pogo 1, USA 175.

I'll let the others chime in for themselves.

Does anybody need a crew for the double-handed leg? I would very much like to do the race on a mini. I have a couple bermuda races to my credit, and plenty of other racing experience I can detail if anyone is interested.

Thanks,
Tim

Hello All,

I am really interested in the class.  I would love to crew in the Bermuda 1-2 but if that is not possible I would like to help out boats that will be racing.  I live in Portsmouth, next town over from Newport, and could possibly be a local support of some sort, e.g. staging boat in my yard, a place to sleep, establishing contacts (I know a few people in Newport YC), helping with setup, etc

If anyone needs crew, or land support, please contact me, blewett_john@excite.com .  I am currently living in Wash, DC but will return to Portsmouth the end of Feb. '07.

Good luck to all,
John B.

Hi John,

Great to see your post re willingness to help Ministas for the B 1-2.  I will be in Portsmouth in March/April to receive two Zeros from Spain &  deliver a proto for the race.  Then back again in June for the start of the race & pack up the proto to take home.  So I will contact you.

I am also hoping that someone can find info. on how to get to Bermuda after the start & be there in time for the leg 1 finish - cheap flights & places to stay - and post this info on the US Mini site & here.

Cheers

Adrian

Adrian,

I'll be glad to hear from you.  Send a message and I'll forward my phone number.

As for flights, I found a pretty good page to search.  It looks like a one way ticket from Providence is about $400.

long link, but it works.

try USA3000 for a flight. they are limited in where they fly from but they are the cheapest.

Additional Bermuda travel information

This may help you and anyone traveling to Bermuda for the 1-2. A good accommodation site. These properties are good values on Bermuda but keep in mind that June is prime travel time and we each have our own opinions of good values:

American is listing $258.00 round trip from boston to bermuda, so I don't think you should have too much trouble getting the flights you need.

Take some good pics and send a nice article to Leo.
