Another Series Mini: Eko 6.50
« on: November 13, 2009, 16:45:59 PM »
Just found another attempt at creating a new Series Mini: The Eko 6.50. Haven't found a lot yet, but it will be interisting to see how this pans out. )not sure whether they just build a Didi or the Pierre Rolland Design)

More info here: http://www.rainbowboats.com/postnuke/index.php

Nothing on the word of performance yet, so all very guessworthy…

We have built a Pierre Rolland to the Series Rule. It has been sailed in the Bermuda 1-2, Nominated for Best Boats 2010 by Sail Magazine, Nominated and test sailed by the Boat of the Year judges for Sailing World. BOTY will be published in the January issue of SW, what a hoot if a Mini wins.

The boat sails very well, it has a very noticiable zone when the sails are right, the tiller become fingertip light. No hard chines as we wanted a better all around boat. Just because it works on the Proto doesn't mean it will work on a Series.

We finished hull #1 in May, went sailing for 6 weeks, finishing up a Rolland CF Prototype for Denver Hopkins in the US. It was the plug for the eKo.

Hull #2 goes in the molds in December.

Yes I am building a Didi, rebuilding a Didi, cut kits for Dudley Dix and other designers.....

Good to know that you are on the forum too. I just heard about the boat through the best boats 2010, but couldn't really find a lot about it online. Had a quick look at the pics, but it will be good to hear more once you take her out racing…

Sam,

You say, "Hull #2 goes in the molds in December".

Should we congratulate you on the first eKo sale?
Was #1 sold or will it be your demo eKo & #2 is the first sold?
Or ??

Best wishes,

CONGRATULATIONS to Sam & the 3cc' s crew on the eKo winning 'SAIL's" first green award.
Good news & a nice highlight for marketing the eKo.

See the announcement & a vid on the eKo at:

I wonder if Sam's Dix 'woody' might get the next SAIL green award in 2010?
