Question to naval architects: draft
« on: January 25, 2007, 19:05:08 PM »
Hey,
I just read the class rules for the 950 and just started out on "drawing" up a sketch of one with the help of Free!Ship.
As always I ask myself: How much draft can you assume for the hull itself? For the 950, for a Mini, for an Open 60?

Thanks in advance!

Cheers
Thomas

That will depend on the rest of your parameters mainly. I think, leo could correct me, Zero is about 0.24; protos are less more arround the .2 .
If you fo too shallow you need a bigger bwl and generates more wetted surface area... you ll have to find the point where you feel confindent, always a compromise (there is no rule).

Reddy: I started, but I'm not yet contended with the results... Still drawing. As I don't posses any specific engineer's skills...
But a chat buddy of mine has drawn one with chines:

Thomas, Thank you for the info. I am playing around with the program. It is quite interesting. I looked at emule to try and get Rhino but I could not find it. Have you looked?
