calendar of races for class 9.50
« on: January 26, 2007, 09:06:52 AM »
What are the existing offshore races where the 9.50 could fit in ???
I am sure that JMV will organise a dedicated race for this class but it would be nice to have a larger programm. What are your thoughts on that ?

Round Brittian,
1000 miles solo (North Sea)
Jester Challange (kind of Ostar)
Transquadra solo (transatlantic)
Alizes (transatlantic)
the list is long... if its build like Cat A i believe, the Stix number will be fine.

THis is looking like a very good class, kind of cheap, lots of races it will fit in, yearly costs reasonable, draft fine for more places.

It would be great to see some Class 9.50's turn up for some Petit Bateau Races,

The first one this year RIOW SOLO ( round Isle of Wight ) 28th April

PB2007 solo race to Ireland and back stopping at some geat places for Irish refreshment starts 14th July for 2 weeks

Racing is open class. Although we do calculate IRC results but we don't ask about STIX numbers.

Online Entries will open soon at www.petitbateau.org.uk

oh yeah back in Holland, so if nearby drop in :)
950, jenneau 3200 or Pogo1050. I think 950 is the better one.
you know the http://www.1000mijl.nl/ site ?

Hi Leo

I did consider entering the 1000mijl but as it finishes in Bergen it would leave me no time to get back to Falmouth for the Start of Petit Bateau 2007. I still have to work for a living!! But will be back in Holland in September for my 4th 200myls race. The 200myls is a really great race eveyone should try it.

My vote would be for the Classe 9.50 the 3200 looks a bit cruiser like and would be to optimised for IRC to be fast. Not seen anything of the Pogo 1050 so will check it out.

Cheers Paul

Hi all, Leo, Paul,

Maarten Russchen, very experienced sailor from Holland ordered a new shorthanded racer of the same size (ish)
Design looks very promising, building method in strongplank (not very common). VQ 32 is designed by Dick Koopmans jr
(winner of his class in the last RBI).

In the Baltic, there is the "Östersjömaran", the Baltic marathon.
This is already today a doublehanded race of about 600M. This race starts the second weekend in June.

In the Baltic, there is also the "Round Gotland race" at about 350M, starts the weekend after midsummer.
