Yeap,
Erwan and Didi are running the show at the moment. If you check the pictures there's lots of code5's this year. And looks like a prety decent weather so all should make it for DCQ - to make just a little more interesting for rest of us ;-)
Soldini is doing OK on Tiptop serie.
Cheers to organizers for nice tracking.

How did they got this big lead ? Missed the first day :(
You call code 5 the furling gennaker with light cloth flow from tip of bowsprit ?
I see too the same with heavier cloth flew from halfway...
I think for the med the light cloth pays, but for the atlantic races the heavier could be better, and for the MT you want both :)

Perfect tracking... except i can not see now who rounded the island levant or is going back :)

Soldini back in mini, Arthaud in c40, Poupon too, RKJ doing the 5O, seems to be the year of return of mothballed sailors...

I think this year it will be pretty interesting to see who gets proto dcq. There are 5 new boats in this race and all of them are also in the Mini Pavois.
I think they all want proto dcq.
679 SITTING BULL Proto S. Manuard B. Gallay
667 EVA LUNA Proto I. Joschke C. Poujol
621 DEPHEMERID-TROIS Proto E. Le Roux D. LeVourch
628 TABON Proto Q. Monegier F. Juillot
601 SAMBA Proto T. Valentin A. Farina
Or did I miss something and one of these boats has already raced?

Bye
Dominik

601 sounds a number given last year, but it still could only hit the water in 07 of course...
Joschke is I believe qualified with the 276.

I think most miles raced will count, and with the experience of Manuard, Joschke and LeVourch (coskipper) i think they will make it.

Funny to see the new Manuard sailed by Manuard getten beaten by a Tiptop (though Soldini onboard....) and overtaken  According the passing of Giraglia he is now just in front, very close in time for nr 2 till 6.. only 6 minutes....

1 621 DEPHEMERID-TROIS 10 Apr. 14:40
2 431 SPEEEDY BONSAI 10 Apr. 17:44
3 667 EVA LUNA 10 Apr. 17:45
4 679 SITTING BULL 10 Apr. 17:46
5 623 SPAZIOLIBERO Serie 10 Apr. 17:48
6 601 SAMBA 10 Apr. 17:50
7 628 TABON 10 Apr. 18:39

Isabelle is playing double game - if she gets DCQ for her new Finot she is giving away her spot on the start list with 276. And as Leo said most miles on minis count so it's Manuard, Joschke, Le Roux for DCQ. With this guys we get to at least 7 boats on the level of the winner of the last Transat. And that is without Alex who is still on the start list (although I'm not up to date with his status) and Yves who is unfortunately stuck on the waiting list.
Anway back to the GPI - it will be interesting way back north since routing is currently sugesting a big western detour which they cannot be aware of (lack of weather info). And Sam looks back on pace immidiately when the wind went above 10kt.
Still agree that it is probably a bit anoying to see your serie boat in front of your newest proto (still half finished probably due to time).
Good stretching of the muscules which is anouncing very interesting season.

Yep, it looks like a very good playing field this MT.
Glad the season started... SO Finots are faster in the light... can see that in the lineplan (i believe)

First two boats arrived. Eight hours difference but both Finot Protos.

It seems like the serie Tip Top is out of the race. Does someone know about it?

interesting square sails here :)
EDIT Photo gone, but i found one which shows main, jib was squared too, and not a mximum hoist. 20 cm less or so

Tiptop. I wished i knew.

For the first time a Zero on place 1 in serie... good for me as i did build that one... and he sails with bank sails, good performance for Mayer and crew... a few minutes before the Pogo2.
The Twister did not break any records, nor did the Naus. I know the Naus is a bit slow, the Twister i do not know, do not know the crews... (only good crews can proof if a boat is slow...)

And Manuard beaten just by its old boat the 431 (ex tiptop2) by a few minutes, gallantry ?
It was a good show from the Finots... So the chines are not magical... could be the light winds... Ubik, did you keep track of the wind ?

First win for a Zero... hope it's not going to be the last.

 Congrat Leo!

The main doesn't look very special to me, but the genoa looks like really different from what i'm used... like it has a saber on the very top, isn't it?

 Cool idea

Looks like a max top batten in the main, even the Ac is small in comparison.
the jib is square too, but i have seen it in the past, this is just a very good shot of it.
And looks like a good overlap.

Hi Leo,

Great to see & celebrate the Zero win.

I came to the race website late & have had some problem figuring out the overall results & duration times for the whole race.  Is there a page that gives the course mileage & completed finish times?

Also could not find the pic referred to for the square sails.

Thanks

Adrian

What would u call a Max batten? i've got 165cm on my Main... i don't know if it's Max or not ( nor i know what a normal distance would be )... all i know is the sail rocks!!!!...and it was the very first the sailmaker ( Depoorter ) was doing with this shape so i suppose he will improve to more distance. Only thing with it, is that the top sabers are so stiff, that in very light winds while tacking, the sail has no enough power to chage sides and the very top is counter shaped. Not a big problem in fact... easy to solve by hand sistem.
