New build Proto cost
« on: July 20, 2011, 15:24:22 PM »
I'm 100% new to Minis, other than admiring them from a distance & wanting a go :) I'm looking to do the 2015 & 2017 Transats. The second one in my own design, the first to 'get my eye in' & come up with what features I like/dislike so can change on the new one.

Atm I'm doing Marine & Composites Technology at Plymouth Uni, hopefully my design will be a suitable dissertation in a few years.

What I'm wondering is what ball park would building a carbon/foam core hull + all the bells & whistles e.g canting keel, asym daggerboards (possibly curved ones) etc. actually cost?

I'm thinking it would be max €150,000 not incl. sails? But I'm guessing/hoping you guys have a better idea.

i'm building right now a new proto for 2013 and of course the cost between a top yard and doing your self is a big difference ! You have to know that you may need, without mold female or not, you need almost 1200/1500 hrs labor so at 40/45€ an hour !!
