English / UPDATED: Pogo 3 or OFCET?
« Last post by Taylor on March 26, 2017, 19:56:03 PM »
Hi everyone,

I'm currently working on a 2018-2020 Mini project (Serie). I don't yet speak French and my research is slow going, so I apologize in advance if my questions are basic, or their answers "obvious".

I'm working on a 2019 Transat campaign, and I am trying to get a boat and be ready for the 2018 season. I've quit my job as a yachtie and am hard at work putting a project together.

I have many questions, though it seems as I figure out the answer as soon as I ask the question.

I am curious, why is POGO 3 the overwhelmingly popular boat choice? Some of the answers are obvious, Structures is by far the most successful and proven designer and builder of Minis. But in the last Transat:
  • ARGO
  • POGO 3
This doesn't suggest design dominance of the POGO 3. But if you look at the 2016 Mini circuit regattas, for example--
  • Pornichet Select
  • Mini en Mai
  • Trophee Marie-Agnes Peron
  • Mini Fastnet
In ALL of these races, the top 5 places were Pogo 3.
An exception would be the Les Sables d'Olonne>Azores>Les Sables race:
  • Pogo 3
  • Pogo 2
  • Pogo 3
  • Pogo 3
Could someone please share some insight into this? I'm an outsider looking in, so there is only so much that I can research from Florida. And yes, I understand that the boat requires a good sailor. But you're only as fast as your boat.
Also, am I discounting the Nacira and Argo unwisely? It would seem that the OFCET and POGO 3 stand apart from the others, but what do I know.

On another topic, I have finished translating the 2016 Notice of Race (into English) for the Les Sables>Azores>Les Sables regatta. If anyone would like it.

I have a Pogo2 on a swing mooring.  The mooring line terminates with a bridle, running to cleats on both side.  There may be a little chafe so I am intending to install some plastic hose onto the line where it passes over the side.  The anchorage is sheltered and always flat water.

Perhaps you are able to install a pair of small cleats?

English / Plans / drawings for a trailer with a canting cradle for Pogo 1
« Last post by Odyssea212 on March 13, 2017, 16:51:53 PM »

I have recently bought an older mini, a Pogo 1 no. 212, for which now I need a road trailer. After a serious research and multiple discussions with various trailer builders in Europe, I realised that I would need a trailer with a canting cradle so that the overall width of the trailer would not be greater than 2.55 m, which is generally accepted throughout EU. I am in advanced discussions with a German supplier of sailboat trailers which asked me to send him the drawings and dimensions of the canting cradle for Pogo 1 so that he can send me a final offer. I have tried to find this information for several weeks now, I have even written to Pogo Structures but to no avail.

I read on a thread published on this forum about 10 years ago that some users exchanged specs of such a trailer built for a Zero. Therefore I am kindly asking if any of you has such info and would be willing to share it, I would greatly appreciate it as I need urgently such a trailer for a long journey across Europe.

Many thanks,

Seeing a GP might be a necessity to come by some of what's on that list in any case.
