Title: MT 07, french sailors are from which department ?
Post by: NicoG on July 15, 2007, 10:26:06 AM
Course au large did the numbers,

22 sailors of Brittany, 8 of the Paris area, 8 of the Countries of the Loire, 6 of Poitou-Charentes 3 of the Languedoc-Roussillon area, 3 of area PACA, 2 of Normandy and Picardy, 2 of the Rhone-Alps area, 1 of North and finally 1 of the Aquitaine area.

so its almost a Brittany thing to do, not French :)

some other tidbits:
Figures to be retained: 43, 41, 28, 22, 5, 1, 8…
They will be 41 prototype boats to take broad the this year for 43 boats of series. Young person of this 16th edition will be once again the Spaniard Hugo Ramon who will celebrate this year his 22e birthday the departure day before, next on September 15. It celebrated already in 2005 its 20 years!
Side fidelity, Yves Dupasquier will run for the 3rd time on its boat called Ti-Punch which, holds a record to him since it is its 5th participation in Transatlantic race 6,50. It carries, for anecdote, a mythical figure: the n°1!
Alex Pella connects the participations 2003, 2005 and 2007 when it finished respectively 3rd and 2nd. How not to think of the 1st position for this edition? To follow.
They will be 28 foreigners is 16 different nationalities (Australia, Brésil, Spain, Switzerland, the USA, Belgium, Great Britain, Italy, Austria, Slovenia, Netherlands, Germany, République Czech, Finland, Portugal, and France) to take the departure. And if the English, the Spaniards and the Italians are among most faithful, it is necessary to note the arrival of new countries like Australia, Brazil, the Czech Republic, Finland, Portugal.
Side parity let us note this year the presence of 8 more determined women all the ones than the others, note that one of large favorite of the edition 2007 is Isabelle Joschke (Degrémont - Synergy). A female participation ever seen on the race!
